The operational capacity of the remaining plants has been exhausted, the ministry says.

The Palestinian Health Ministry warned on Saturday that the oxygen supply to hospitals in the Gaza Strip is at risk of a critical shortage, saying the operational capacity of the remaining plants has been used up entirely.

The ministry said the plants still running are operating beyond their maximum capacity, with repeated technical faults compounding the strain.

Medical oxygen has no substitute in intensive care, operating theatres and neonatal units. When it runs out, those departments do not slow down — they stop.

No timetable was announced for repairing the plants that have gone offline.
