Settler attacks rise 63 percent over seven months of 2026
The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission counted 4,113 attacks between January and July against 2,524 in the same months last year, and said not one month came in below its counterpart.
Israeli settler attacks across the occupied West Bank reached 4,113 in the first seven months of 2026, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission said in a statement on Monday, against 2,524 recorded over the same months of 2025.
The gap comes to 1,589 further attacks, a rise of 63 percent. The commission said the increase was spread across the whole period rather than concentrated in part of it: every month of 2026 exceeded its counterpart in the previous year without a single exception, and it drew attention to the counts for June and July.
Its reading of the totals is that they do not describe a run of separate incidents. The commission attributed the rise to political, security and legal enablement running alongside a rapid expansion of settlement building, and dated the sharpening of that pattern to the formation of the current far-right Israeli government at the end of 2022.
That framing carries as much weight as the total. An account of the attacks as enabled rather than merely tolerated places the responsibility with the state and its institutions, and not only with the settlers who carry them out — which is the ground on which legal arguments about the West Bank are increasingly fought.
The commission is the Palestinian body charged with monitoring settlement building and settler activity, and it publishes these counts periodically. The statement did not break the 4,113 down by type of attack, and there was no Israeli comment on the figures.
