Gaza hospitals face generator collapse as fuel reserves run dry

Ministry says monthly need tops 2500 liters and demands immediate entry of oil and parts to sustain critical medical care.

Gaza hospitals face generator collapse as fuel reserves run dry

The Gaza Health Ministry announced on Wednesday that hospital generators have exhausted their oil supplies. This depletion threatens the immediate mechanical failure of remaining units, which are already operating under severe technical strain and complex engineering conditions within medical facilities across the enclave.

Officials warned that power disruptions will affect vital departments providing life-saving care. The ministry stated that maintaining generator operations requires more than 2500 liters of fuel each month. This necessary volume is currently unavailable, leaving healthcare infrastructure vulnerable to total shutdown.

Previous warnings against emergency fuel solutions were reiterated by health authorities. They explained that limited quantities do not extend operational time but rather increase consumption. Extended running hours and urgent maintenance needs during high demand periods exacerbate the strain on aging equipment.

The ministry urged relevant parties to fulfill humanitarian duties through immediate intervention. It demanded the urgent entry of required oils and spare parts. These supplies are deemed essential to keep electrical generators running and maintain basic healthcare services in the region.

Without these interventions, the deterioration of power systems poses a direct risk to patients. The ministry highlighted that current conditions prevent reliable electricity provision. Ensuring the continued function of medical equipment remains dependent on securing adequate fuel resources immediately.
