Israeli Forces Demolish Home in Battir Village West of Bethlehem
Soldiers also broke into a residence and occupied its rooftop during the raid.

Israeli forces demolished a Palestinian home on Thursday in Battir village. The incident occurred west of Bethlehem in the southern occupied West Bank. Soldiers also broke into another residence during the same military operation.
Akram Badr is the head of the Battir Municipality. He stated that Israeli troops invaded the area with military bulldozers. They destroyed a home belonging to Mohammad Shaher Oweina in the Al-Zqaq area. The demolished structure measured one hundred seventy square meters in total size.
During this invasion, soldiers forced open the main gate of Kamel Obeidat’s home. They broke into the residence and subsequently occupied its rooftop. These actions caused significant disruption for the local residents living nearby.
Badr said Israeli restrictions on Palestinian construction have intensified pressure on residents. He noted that Area B comprises only about 1,600 dunums of village territory. The vast majority of land falls within Area C under full Israeli control.
Limits on building permits severely restrict population growth and housing expansion. Many families must contend with overcrowding and severe housing shortages. Urban development constraints continue to impact daily life for people in the village significantly.
Battir is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for ancient agricultural terraces. Officials say Israeli planning policies in Area C limit development. They warn these restrictions increase pressure on residents to leave their ancestral land permanently.
