Israeli forces kill Palestinian and injure five in West Bank attacks

Israeli forces killed one Palestinian and injured five others during separate attacks in the occupied West Bank provinces of Hebron and Jenin on Monday. Palestinian officials and medical sources confirmed the casualties resulted from military fire and settler violence in different areas of the territory.

Near Bani Naim, east of Hebron, troops fired at a car with three Palestinians inside. The shooting left one man dead and seriously injured the other two occupants. The Israeli army claimed the Palestinians had attempted to carry out a car-ramming attack against soldiers in the area.

The Palestinian General Authority of Civil Affairs identified the deceased as thirty-eight-year-old Hossam Alaa al-Din Abdul Jabbar Walad Ali. The authority stated that Israeli forces withheld his body following the incident. This identification came as medical crews treated the two surviving passengers for their injuries.

In a statement posted on X, the Israeli army said the three Palestinians were driving suspiciously before the confrontation. It alleged that the vehicle accelerated towards an Israeli military vehicle and hit it. Soldiers subsequently opened fire on the car after this alleged collision occurred.

Separately, three Palestinians were injured when Israeli settlers assaulted them while they harvested olives near Yabad, southwest of Jenin. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that its crews treated the victims in the Imriha area. They were then transferred to a hospital for further medical care.

Local sources indicated that one victim suffered a broken leg during the assault. Another sustained an injury to his left hand. An elderly man was beaten and sprayed with pepper spray by the attackers. These details highlight the physical severity of the settler violence in the region.

The Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission reported more than 14,742 attacks across the West Bank since October 2023. These incidents have killed sixty-six Palestinians. The commission also noted that the attacks destroyed over 147,000 trees, including more than 100,000 olive trees.
