Netanyahu Vows to Destroy Hezbollah as UN Backs Palestinian Access
Israeli prime minister launches campaign while global assembly rejects US visa ban on Palestinian delegation for upcoming New York session.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched his Likud party election campaign on Thursday with a speech insisting that only he can guarantee national security. He declared that the current mission must be completed to ensure the total destruction of Hezbollah and Hamas alongside the Iranian regime.
Netanyahu accused his electoral opponents of seeking territorial concessions in future negotiations. He pointed to the presence of Israeli troops in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza as proof that his government takes land instead of giving it away to adversaries or neighbors.
He repeated his longstanding refrain that he has already changed the face of the Middle East significantly. The prime minister vowed to change the regional landscape yet again through continued military pressure and strategic operations across multiple borders in the coming period.
Meanwhile, the United Nations General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to reject the American decision to prevent the Palestinian delegation from participating in its upcoming session. A total of 152 countries supported the resolution during the vote held in New York City on Thursday.
The adopted resolution called on Washington to reverse its decision immediately. It viewed the move as breaching the Headquarters Agreement, which requires the host nation to allow diplomatic teams to enter freely for their official duties without obstruction.
The US State Department stated on Thursday that it has approved visas for a core Iranian delegation and essential staffers. However, officials confirmed that they denied entry permits to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and other high-ranking Palestinian officials for the meeting.
This diplomatic clash highlights growing international friction over access to global forums. The overwhelming support for the Palestinian delegation underscores the widespread view that excluding them undermines the integrity of multilateral institutions and violates established international legal agreements regarding diplomatic immunity.
Netanyahu’s aggressive rhetoric coincides with this significant diplomatic rebuke of US policy. The dual developments illustrate the complex interplay between domestic Israeli political maneuvering and broader international legal disputes concerning representation and participation in global governance bodies today.
