Mohammad al-Halabi, aged 50, now tends a plot of 300 square metres in Nuseirat, in the central Gaza Strip, having farmed since childhood.

A plot of that size is a fraction of a commercial holding. It is enough to supply a household and a little beyond it.

Small-scale cultivation of this kind has become one of the few sources of fresh produce inside the Strip.
