Syria Demands Israeli Withdrawal From Golan Heights at UN
President Ahmed al-Sharaa condemns air strikes and incursions while highlighting national reconstruction efforts.

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa addressed the United Nations General Assembly to demand an immediate Israeli withdrawal from occupied Syrian territory. He condemned recent military actions as severe threats to national security and progress following a devastating civil war that has recently ended.
Al-Sharaa firmly rejected Israeli attempts to impose new realities on the ground through force. He cited specific aggressive acts including five hundred air strikes and more than one thousand two hundred incursions into Syrian land. The president also noted three hundred detentions carried out by Israeli forces in the region.
The leader described these hostile actions as reminiscent of a dark era thought long gone. He asserted that such aggressions fundamentally undermine peace and regional security. His speech highlighted the urgent need for Israel to respect international agreements and cease its ongoing military operations against Syrian sovereignty.
Syria has emerged from crisis to opportunity under new leadership established in 2024. Al-Sharaa reported that bloodshed and destruction have stopped completely. The nation has started a serious journey of reconstruction and recovery with state control over arms and rebuilding of civilian institutions.
The president emphasized the safe return of about 3.5 million refugees and displaced people. He urged the international community to commit to the 1974 agreement creating a UN-supervised separation zone. Al-Sharaa insisted the strategic Golan Heights will remain Syrian territory despite recent foreign recognitions of Israeli claims.
