PNN Launches Safety Training for Journalists in Palestine
The two-day workshop equips media workers and activists with skills to operate safely in hostile environments amid rising threats.

Palestine News Network launched a professional safety training course for its journalists, university graduates, and civil society representatives. The two-day event took place at the Palestinian President Putin Foundation to address growing risks faced by media workers covering events across the Palestinian arena.
The workshop opened with a minute of silence honoring journalists killed in the line of duty. Monjed Jadou welcomed participants and outlined the objectives, emphasizing the difficult circumstances where Israel targets journalists through various means and methods during their professional duties.
The course covers areas aimed at strengthening the ability to work in hostile environments. Participants learn to respond safely to challenging situations while reviewing previous experiences of journalists who faced attacks. Practical first-aid training is also included to enhance immediate response capabilities during emergencies.
Jadou stated that the training aims to develop the capabilities of journalists working for the network. It includes rights organizations and human rights defenders to improve their ability to protect themselves. This effort forms part of a broader vision to promote media freedoms and enable professional coverage.
Trainer Nael al-Shioukh noted that the programme demonstrates a commitment to developing young journalists' skills. He stressed the importance of learning from previous experiences to improve preparedness. The course provides specialized training based on real-life situations faced by media workers in high-risk areas like Palestine.
Participants thanked the organizers for providing practical knowledge about working in dangerous areas. Ibrahim Al-Bam said the course strengthens a culture of professional safety among activists. Freelance journalist Malak Abdel Latif praised the sessions for teaching preparedness and safe movement in high-risk environments.
