Iran Claims US-Israel Defeat; Kristof Cites Ethnic Cleansing

Iranian army spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia declared that the United States and Israel suffered a major defeat in their recent aggression. He stated that the adversaries failed to achieve their stated objectives during the conflict. This assertion comes alongside reports of settler violence and demolitions affecting Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank region today.

General Akraminia argued that the enemy entered the war after making a series of miscalculations regarding Iran and its capabilities. He emphasized that these strategic errors led to significant failures for the attacking forces. The Iranian military leadership maintains that their defensive posture successfully neutralized the intended impact of the external aggression against their national sovereignty.

The spokesman listed several specific goals that the criminal enemy had set for its attack. These included destroying Iran’s missile and nuclear capabilities as well as overthrowing the government. Akraminia also noted that the aggressors aimed at partitioning Iran but failed to achieve any of these ambitious and destructive objectives during the course of the hostilities.

He further cited a failure to correctly understand the Iranian people as a key factor in the outcome. Additionally, he pointed to the failure to anticipate Tehran’s ability to control the Strait of Hormuz. These elements were highlighted among other significant failures that plagued the US and Israeli efforts throughout the duration of their latest military campaign against Iran.

In the West Bank, Pulitzer-winning New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof said Israeli settlers blocked him during his visit this spring. He visited Palestinian villages where families struggled to farm ancestral land despite repeated violent attacks by settlers. Kristof noted that the settlers left when he tried to interview them about their actions against the local residents.

Kristof questioned what to call such actions but ethnic cleansing in light of the ongoing displacement. His remarks reacted to a video showing the demolition of Khirbat al-Tabban in Masafer Yatta by Israeli authorities. Activist Yehuda Shaul warned that without international pushback, political agendas would lead to the destruction of more Palestinian communities in the area.
